Shane Stuart's article in The News & Reporter on July 24, 2019, I want to ensure the citizens of Chester County your county council is working diligently to examine every aspect of the ongoing issues associated with the supervisor and his questionable judgment over the past several months.

    When I was first elected, I knew I'd have to face critics and a little public ridicule. I certainly don't have any issue with fielding questions from the public. I always have and will continue to do so.

    That is a portion of the first amendment to the United States Constitution. It is a bedrock principle of any free society and it establishes that government has no authority to police your words and thoughts. It is also one of the most misunderstood rights that all Americans enjoy.

    What is in “the public interest?” If elected officials are not acting in your best interest or are committing crimes, is that in the public interest? If your tax dollars are being misspent, is that in the public interest? If policies and procedures intended to guide the actions of the elected are not being followed or are being selectively enforced, is that in the public interest?
