Fire Chief Allen Culp points out the deep gouges in the roadway on U.S. Highway 21 near Fincher Road that were caused by two logging trucks colliding in December 2018. These gouges may have played a factor in other accidents and they are certainly a hazard to motorists traveling the highway.
The 'Forgotten Road'

Fort Lawn Fire Chief Allen Culp calls a three-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 21 (Catawba River Road) “The Forgotten Road.” A recent fatal accident at that location has once again brought attention to a roadway that needs a desperate fix.

“Considering this is a United States Highway, you would think that the federal government or the state government would have some way to repair it,” Culp said.
