Sheriff deputy's employment terminated after DUI arrest

A Chester County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested Thursday night and has since been relieved of his duties.

According to a release from interim Sheriff Max Dorsey, Evan Robert Hawthorne, 25, a resident of Rock Hill, was arrested by the S.C. Highway Patrol Thursday night at approximately 11:15 p.m. The arrest came after a single vehicle accident that occurred in the parking lot of the Chester Park School Complex on S.C. Highway 9. Hawthorne was found to be driving his patrol vehicle, however, he was not actually on duty at the time of the accident.
