City names finalists for police chief position

-A A +A
By Travis Jenkins

Chester Mayor Mitch Foster said Tuesday that a decision on hiring a new police chief could be made as soon as this week.
Early this year, Mike Brown, who has served as Chester's police chief since 2004, told city officials that he planned to retire on April 30. Foster said the city received about 17 applications for the position, about nine of which met all the qualifications posted for the job. One of the nine withdrew from consideration. The city interviewed the other eight candidates in the past few weeks.
