Chester playoff opener could move to Thursday

The playoffs seemed to arrived quickly this year, but they might literally be arriving more quickly than expected this week.

There is rain in the forecast for Friday and multiple schools have already decided to move their first-round football playoff games to Thursday. Chester may join that list. Athletic Director Ricky Campbell said Tuesday afternoon that a decision would be made early Wednesday morning. Coach Victor Floyd said if the forecast holds and heavy rain remains in the forecast for Friday, his preference would be to play on Thursday. The field would have had two dry days and would be in perfect shape. He worries that playing on a saturated field Friday could leave it in bad shape for the rest of the playoffs, should Chester win its opening game against Liberty.
