A woman who confessed to killing her newborn baby by putting him in a refrigerator last year was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday.

Angela Renee Blackwell, now 28, appeared before Judge Dan Hall at the Chester County Courthouse to plead guilty to a charge of infliction of great bodily harm to her four-day-old son William David Paul Lewis. At the outset, Hall asked Blackwell if she understood her plea and asked her if she acknowledged that evidence would strongly support her guilt. She did not answer him initially.
