Josh Belk was already a former Tiger, now he’s a former Gamecock…and perhaps a former football player altogether.

Belk, the highly-touted defensive tackle from Lewisville High School who transferred from Clemson to the University of South Carolina last year confirmed Wednesday he is leaving the Gamecocks program and indicated he would be giving up the game.

“He is a fine young man and we wish him the best,” said Will Muschamp, Gamecocks head football coach, in acknowledging that Belk had told him he was quitting the sport.
