First Citizens Bank is closing their Lewisville branch in Richburg, but says Senior VP and Market Executive Tony Pope, that doesn’t mean the bank won’t have a presence in the community.
A letter sent to customers last week states, ‘after carefully and thoughtfully evaluating our business operations, we’ve decided to close the Lewisville office at 3551 Lancaster Highway, Richburg. The last business day for this location will be Thursday, April 11, 2024, closing at 2 p.m.
‘Please note: The ATM at the Lewisville location will remain in operation.
‘You can continue to bank with us at any First Citizens Bank branch, including the branches in Chester at 1612 J.A. Cochran Bypass and in Lancaster at 500 North Main Street. We have more than 115 locations in South Carolina and more than 500 branches throughout the United States to serve you.
We hope that you’ve enjoyed banking at this branch, and we’re sure you’ll appreciate the outstanding customer service we offer at all of our locations…
‘We appreciate your business and your understanding as we make this change. If you have any questions, please contact the Chester Bypass branch (803-377-7151) and we’ll be glad to help you.’
The letter goes on to advise customers who lease a safe deposit box (and the letter reminds customers that safe deposit box contents are not FDIC insured), a new box can be made available to them at one of the other area locations, subject to availability. Pope confirmed there are available safe deposit boxes at the other locations.
‘Our associates will assist you in making the necessary arrangements so you can transfer the contents to a box at another First Citizens branch. You must come into the branch, close out your box and retrieve the contents no later than 3 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2024. Please stop by or call the office at 803-789-6161 to make an appointment to close your box,’ the letter advises.
Contacted by the N&R for additional details, Pope stated the branch was closing, but the bank was upgrading the ATM at the location to a state-of-the-art model that will allow for deposits to made from the comfort and safety of a customer’s vehicle. There will be the improved ATM and an improved lighting system for added security, Pope noted.
Although there are no plans for anything yet, First Citizens plans to maintain a presence in the Richburg area through the ATM and they plan to retain ownership of the property in this growing area with an eye towards the future, Pope said.
