Lewisville grad headed to Junior College World Series

By virtue of its 8-1 win and series sweep over Harford Community College, Spartanburg Methodist College won the NJCAA Eastern District Series on Saturday and has earned a spot in the Junior College World Series to be held next week in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Logan Pemberton, a 2010 Lewisville graduate, is a member of the SMC team. Pemberton helped guide Lewisville to a state championship his senior season.

Lewisville set to name new coach

Rusty Pemberton, Lewisville High School's athletic director, said the search for a new football coach would move quickly and it did.
Lewisville Principal Dr. Jim Knox said on Thursday that the new Lions head football coach would be introduced at the school on Tuesday. The introductory press conference will start at 2 p.m.

GREAT FALLS - The funeral for Mrs. Annie Mae Kilgo Gwin will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at Great Falls First Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Batchelor and the Rev. James Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Gwin, 104, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at her home. She was born Nov. 2, 1907.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas K. Gwin and Ralph F. Gwin, both of Great Falls.

Relay for Life is today at LHS stadium

The Chester County 2012 Relay for Life celebration begins today at 7 p.m. and continues to midnight at the Lewisville High School stadium. This year's event will feature singing, two great local bands, bagpipe music and a special appearance by mascots from two of South Carolina's top rival universities, said organizer Kathi Gaddy.
“We're gonna have Cocky from USC and the Tiger Cub from Clemson,” she said. “They'll be there from 7 to 8:30 p.m.”
