    A five-year-old Chester murder case has been dismissed because of insufficient evidence.

  • Two Chester men face 20-year sentences on drug charges

    A pair of Chester men have plead guilty to drug charges in federal court.

    United States Attorney Beth Drake announced Monday that Jacques Andre Jackson and Willie Joseph Roberts, pled guilty in federal court to federal drug charges associated with their participation in a conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. United States District Judge Mary Geiger Lewis, of Columbia, accepted the guilty pleas and will impose sentence after she has reviewed the presentence report, which will be prepared by the U.S. Probation Office.

  • City police recover missing property

    It was case closed and a happy homeowner that recently got some missing property returned, thanks to the City of Chester Police Department.

    Dave Claytor, the proprietor of the Inn Upon Moon River Plantation B&B left his lawnmower in his yard while cutting some weeds at nearby St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. When he came back from that short task, he discovered his lawnmower was missing.

  • Chester citizens sit down for "Coffee with a Cop"

    Coffee flowed (for those who were drinking it) hand-delivered by some of the City of Chester and Chester County’s finest law enforcement officers. Conversation with the law enforcement officers also flowed at Chester’s T&M Restaurant Tuesday morning during the first “Coffee with a Cop” session.

  • UPDATED: Detention Center inmate dies

    A Lancaster man was found dead in a cell at the Chester County Detention Center after being arrested for a DUI on Sunday.

    According to an incident report from the Chester County Sheriff’s Office, 46-year-old Charles Thomas Minors, a resident of Lancaster, was brought to the detention center by a South Carolina Highway Patrolman at 5:40 p.m. Sunday. The report notes that Minors was too intoxicated to be booked at that time and was put into a holding cell to sober up.

    There’s an old saying attributed to Native Americans that says ‘If you want to understand a man, walk a mile in his moccasins.’ And in this modern world, we might add if you want to understand a woman, walk a mile in her moccasins. Some male Chester City Police Officers are taking that saying to heart on Friday as they walk in high heels and some female officers will be sporting heavy boots as they walk to show their support for domestic violence awareness in the “Pump the Brakes Against Domestic Violence” walk.

    A Lockhart man was arrested Tuesday for firing a gun while intoxicated near a location where Chester and Union County sheriff’s deputies were conducting K9 tracking and training exercises.
