  • Armed, fake police officers threaten to "ram" man's door

    An Edgemoor resident says two men, at least one of whom was armed, came to his home last week impersonating police officers.
    At approximately 1 p.m. last Wednesday, two men allegedly knocked on the door of a Wylie Mills Road man. When the man answered the door, one of the two suspects introduced himself and his cohort as being police officers. He said the two wanted to come inside the man's home but apparently did not state a purpose for wanting to do so.

  • Man claims attack by three youths on bikes

    A Chester man told police he was assaulted by a group of youth riding bicycles early Tuesday morning.
    The alleged victim went into the McDonald's on the J.A. Cochran Bypass and said that he'd been stabbed in the face. A deputy was on the scene quickly, and spotted the man who did have a cut and dried blood on his lower lip. The incident report notes that the deputy did smell alcohol on the man's person.

  • Man charged for allegedly threatening wife

    A man who allegedly attacked and threatened to kill his wife and any police officer that set foot on his property was arrested on Saturday.

  • Chester man facing attempted murder charges

    A Chester County man was arrested on charges of attempted murder Friday night.
    Just after 9:30 p.m., Chester County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to Old York Road near Wilson's Feed and Seed in reference to a man hitting and jumping on a woman's car. The man claimed to have been shot and was asking the woman for help. A deputy arrived on the scene and located the man who did appear to have been shot.

  • Man with stolen trailer leads deputies on chase

    A Catawba man with an allegedly stolen trailer led Chester County Sheriff's Deputies on a brief chase Tuesday.
    According to incident reports, deputies were dispatched to the Cable Road area of Chester County where workers of Two Brothers Utilities were following a white flatbed that was pulling their stolen Easy Lawn Hydro Seeding System Trailer.

  • Accused Georgia murderer nabbed in Chester

    An accused murderer from Georgia was arrested in Chester County this week.
    On Wednesday, the Chester County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the S.C. Highway Patrol in reference to a wanted fugitive from Georgia. U.S. Marshalls were tracking Aaron Garsua McClain and had pinpointed his last location as being near mile marker 65 on Interstate-77 North. He was traveling in a gray Nissan Rogue. The car had damage on the rear driver's side and McClain was believed to have a gun.

  • County responds to 911 brief

    Chester County has filed a response to the amicus curiae brief filed recently by the South Carolina Association of Countywide Elected Executives (SCACEE), saying the group's claims of a new ordinance being unconstitutional have been nullified.
    This ties into the ongoing legal battle to determine whether or not the county can legally take control of E911 away from Sheriff Alex Underwood. Judge Knox McMahon, who is hearing the case in court, agreed to a new filing by Underwood a few weeks ago. One of those was to allow SCACEE to file the amicus curiae brief.

  • Former contractor sues Fort Lawn, public works director

    A former independent contractor for the Town of Fort Lawn has filed suit against the Town and Public Works Director Lewis Jordan.
    According to the documents field at the Chester County Courthouse, an attorney representing William P. “Pat” Roddey filed a negligence lawsuit on his client's behalf naming the Town of Fort Lawn and Allen Lewis Jordan. Jordan is the Town of Fort Lawn's public works director. The summons requests a jury trial for the complaint.

  • Armed robbery suspect arrested

    The Chester Police Department has arrested a man and charged him with armed robbery in connection with the robbery of the Corner Mart convenience store.
    According to a release from the Chester Police Department, officers were called to the Corner Mart at 895 J.A. Cochran Bypass on Sunday, March 23, to meet with the victim, who said the store had been robbed at gunpoint at about 12:35 p.m. according to the CPD.
