  • Mr. J.C. ‘Sonny Boy’ Bowler, 67

    CHESTER– Mr. J.C. “Sonny Boy” Bowler Jr., 67, of 303 Ashford St., Chester passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Chester Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends at the home. Arrangements will be announced by King’s Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester, SC.

  • Maj. Stanley G. Hull, 74

    NASHVILLE, TENN. – Maj. Stanley Grayson Hull, 74, passed away on July 17, 2016, at his home in Nashville, Tenn. after a two-year battle with lung cancer.

    He was born on Feb. 16, 1942, in Great Falls, SC.

    Survivors include three children: Russell Hull of Saint Petersburg, Fla., Heather Wilkinson of Smyrna, Tenn. and Pamela Hull of Nashville, Tenn. and four grandchildren.

  • Ms. Barbara Ann Wishert, 73

    CHESTER ­– Barbara Ann Wishert, 73, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, July 16, 2016.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Cool Branch Baptist Church with Rev. John Epps officiating.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Cool Branch Baptist Church. 

  • Mr. Bernard Miller, Jr., 69

    CAMDEN – Mr. Bernard Haywood Miller, Jr, 69, of Camden died Sunday, July 3, 2016.

    He was born in Chester, the son of the late Bernard Haywood Miller, Sr. and Edith Wages Miller.

    He graduated from Clemson University. Mr. Miller was a US Army veteran.

    Surviving are his sons, Tripp Miller (Becky) of Columbia and their 3 children William, Bennett and Walker Miller; Rod Miller (Angie) of Jacksonville, Fla. and their 4 children, Kylie, Rodgers, Elijah and Kenzie; Will Miller of Carolina Beach, NC and a sister, JoAnn Miller Turner of Chester.

  • Mrs. Teresa Lynn Smith, 39

    CHESTER – Mrs. Teresa Lynn Smith, 39, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Chester Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at Saluda Street Church of God with Rev. Joe Vickers officiating. Interment will follow in Spence Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 15, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. 

  • Mrs. Katherine “Kappy” Rogers, 97

    CHARLOTTE, NC – A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Katherine “Kappy” Lathrop Whiteside Rogers of Charlotte will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 15, at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, 2501 Oxford Place, Charlotte, NC. The graveside service will be private.

    Mrs. Rogers died Friday, July 8, 2016. She was 97.

    The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church parlor.

  • Mr. Andrew “Andy” O. Beaver, 49

    BLACKSTOCK – Mr. Andrew Owen “Andy” Beaver, 49, died Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Hovis  and Rev. Greg Batchelor officiating.  Interment will be private.  The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at First Baptist Church, 606 Dearborn St., Great Falls, SC. 

  • Mr. Marion E. Heath, 84

    GREAT FALLS – A celebration of life drop-in for Mr. Marion Edward Heath will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at his home, 280 Raintree Road, Great Falls.

    Mr. Heath, 84, died Monday, July 11, 2016 at his home.

    Born on Feb. 1, 1932 in Richmond, Va., he was a son of the late Floyd Marshall Heath and Elise Gay Heath.

  • Mr. Clingmon H. Bennett, 86

    GREAT FALLS  – The funeral for Mr. Clingmon Horace Bennett was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 11, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Marty Roberts officiating.  Interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery. 

    Mr. Bennett, 86, died Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was a son of the late Horace Clingmon Bennett and Elizabeth Gibson Bennett.

    Survivors include his wife, Ida Lathan Bennett; and two brothers, Harold Bennett of Greensboro, NC and Ralph Bennett of Great Falls.  

  • Ms. Gloria Jean Woods, 59

    CHESTER ­ –  The funeral service for Ms. Gloria Jean Woods of 628 Lancaster Highway, Apt. 324, Chester will be held on Saturday, July 16, at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Pastor James Hope officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

    Ms. Woods died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Piedmont Medical Center. She was 59.

    Viewing will be held from 1-7 p.m. Friday, July 15, at King’s Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester. The family will receive friends at the home.
