The Nov. 11 Chester County Veterans Day Parade is being administered by a force of veterans groups who have combined their abilities to continue a tradition that Mike Halsey and the members of the Joshua Lodge revived two years ago.

As it had been in the days of WWII, the parade was fast becoming an annual tradition once again. Failing health has lessened Halsey’s role in the planning for the parade recently, so the local chapters of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the America Legion Riders, the VFW and the Marine Corps League have taken it on themselves to compete the mission this year.

The 3rd Annual Chester County Veterans Day Parade will take place on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. People participating in the parade will line up at Joe Collins Stadium in Chester starting at 10 a.m.

The parade organizers are asking for all veterans to participate in the parade and are inviting members of city council, county council, state legislators, first responders, fire departments, EMS, police and sheriff’s office, church groups or civic organizations to participate.

The parade will follow the route the Christmas parade takes every year and the Veterans Day Parade organizers ask anyone who lives on that route to fly an American flag. Viewers of the parade are encouraged to bring an American flag to wave.
