Phone scam shows police department number

-A A +A
By Nancy Parsons

Mitford Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Good was at a convention in Myrtle Beach last week when he received a couple of unexpected phone calls.

Good said the first call was from a woman who stated a warrant had been issued for his arrest and he had until 4 p.m. to resolve the issue or he would be arrested the following day.

The woman told Good he owed $1,844 and if the claim had to be settled in court, the cost would climb to $3,000 the next day.
