South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster does not agree with a judge's recent ruling that Christopher Pittman, who was convicted of shooting his grandparents to death and setting their home on fire in Chester in 2002, deserves a new trial.
In late July, Circuit Court Judge Roger Young ordered a new trial for Pittman saying “The only remedy this Court can order is to vacate the convictions. The Applicant must be afforded a new trial, with the parties free to pursue plea discussion as they see fit.”
