On Wednesday, influential Chester County legislator Greg Delleney announced he would not be seeking re-election to his S.C. District 43 seat, starting a flurry of congratulatory messages on social media and eliciting comments from his fellow Chester County legislative delegation members.

Delleney, a Republican, switched to the GOP in 2002 after being elected as a Democrat in 1991.

Chester County Delegation leader Sen. Mike Fanning, a Democrat, said Delleney is well respected on both sides of the aisle.
