The driver of a water tanker traveling on U.S. Highway 21 on Wednesday morning lost control of the vehicle, overturned and was airlifted to a Charlotte, N.C. hospital. The driver has been identified as Freeman Boulware, 61, of 5522 Old Winnsboro Road in Great Falls, said S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Billy Elder. The accident occurred at 9:23 a.m. about 3.4 miles north of Fort Lawn, Elder said. Boulware, who was driving a 1993 International water tanker, was traveling south on U.S 21, the trooper said.

"He was coming onto the right side of the highway then traveled to the left side and overturned," Elder said.

Boulware was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. His condition is unknown at this time. The crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed, Elder said.
